  24. I'd guess that initex does not find the .pool files
  25. in the current directory.
  26. Maybe the line

  28. initex = TEXPOOL=. ./initex

  30. is not understood on all systems.
  31. I would suggest that if this problem arises
  32. one should try copying tex.pool from .../web2c-6.1/web2c/tex
  33. to the place where it will go, probably /usr/local/lib/texmf/ini .
